Winners Cashier: I am a cashier and also a floor associates. So, cashiers take customers, process them to go out, do refunds. And when you’re on the floor, you’re typically organizing the store. You’re helping whichever customers are on the floor. And at the end of the night, you stay additionally longer because you have to get the store back to the way it was so that when people do come to shop again, it’s orderly and all that stuff, so they can find stuff.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Winners Cashier: They’re very friendly. They’re one of those workplaces where if you’re walking by, they don’t just say, “Hi,” morning or wherever. They take the actual step to actually say, “Hi, how are you?” As a courtesy. And at the end of the night, whenever you leave, especially after a long day, they always tell you, “We couldn’t have done this without you, and thank you for coming in.” So, they always do that.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Winners Cashier: The application process, it’s pretty standard. They have you given your resume and they also have their section on work experiences, previous work experiences, and education. And their interview is… I don’t even want to tell you my story. No, it was funny. The guy was really friendly. I sat in the wrong chair like I did just now. And he corrected me, and he was just very nice, very open, very friendly. And they’re very diverse. So, it wasn’t like your interview typically by a specific race or whatever. Their work force is just very diverse.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Winners Cashier: I think maybe he liked my crazy personality. They want to look, see that you can work well with others, you can get along with them. And I think another thing is that I had a lot of cashier experience, so they were looking at that. I think that set me apart.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Winners Cashier: Looking to work there, if you have previous retail experience, it would be an asset. Not necessarily that you have to have it, but it’s good. And if you’re very time-oriented, because they’re going to give you a lot of tasks at specific times of when you’re supposed to finish it and what exactly are you supposed to get done. So, if you’re very time-oriented and you can organize that, that’s going to be very good at that.
