More About Pizza Hut
History
Pizza Hut Canada grew out of international demand for the franchise in the late 1960s. Founders Dan and Frank Carney, already experiencing steady growth and tremendous success in the U.S., expanded the company to Canada in 1968. The Carney brothers created International Pizza Hut Franchise Holders Association to oversee current and future international locations shortly after expansion into Canada. In 1977, PepsiCo purchased Pizza Hut from Dan and Frank Carney. The company changed ownership again after PepsiCo created a corporate spinoff division called Tricon Global Restaurants. The 1997 spinoff marked the inaugural venture of Pizza Hut into public trading. Tricon underwent a name change in 2002 and now operates as Yum! Brands Inc.
Menu
The Pizza Hut menu largely consists of pizza and pizza-related selections. Guests may either dine-in or carry-out. Panned pizzas represent the most popular menu items available at Pizza Hut restaurants. Pizza Hut also serves salads, breadsticks, calzones, cinnamon twists, sandwiches, and Buffalo wings. The international pizza shop chain provides online ordering to customers, as well.
How Does Pizza Hut Work?
The international pizza shop chain primarily serves panned pizzas with a variety of toppings. Pizza Hut also serves sides, wings, and desserts. Easily accessible locations, typically found in densely populated areas, help boost popularity for Pizza Hut restaurants both in Canada and throughout the world. Catchy ad campaigns, like Pizza Head parodies of the Mr. Bill character from Saturday Night Live, special promotions, and a global presence generates millions of dollars in revenues and drive millions more to restaurants on an annual basis. Family-friendly atmospheres and reasonable prices also lend to the success of Pizza Hut internationally.
Financial
Once a private company, Pizza Hut operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yum! Brands Inc. The independent restaurant managing firm trades on the NYSE under the ticker symbol YUM and generates over $12 billion in annual revenues. Pizza Hut manages roughly 11,000 locations worldwide and accounts for almost $1 billion of total Yum! Brands revenue. More than 140,000 employees work for Pizza Hut in nearly 100 countries around the world. Pizza Hut corporate headquarters reside in Plano, TX.

Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Pizza Hut Cook:
For Pizza Hut my job title was a cook, so I was busy handling the food in the back, making sure all of the ingredients were in their places at the time for the pizza. Setting up the dough in the morning to make the pizza. Also, keeping everything, all the counters clean, all the knives clean. And then, after a couple of weeks after I got used to the workplace, I was starting cooking the pizza. Flattening all the dough, putting all the ingredients on it, making sure to follow all the customer’s orders. So, I would pretty much have to maintain a clean environment, and make sure everything all the greens are all fresh and cut for the pizza to be made. And then after about two months on the job, I started working up in the cash, so going back and forth, depending on how busy the store is. And sometimes I would, if the store was always busy, I would help with the buffet. Put all the food out in the front in the trays and put the customer to their tables and help cash them out at times.
Interviewer:
How would you describe the application and interview process?
Pizza Hut Cook:
The hiring process at that time, there was a job fair going on. So then I went to the job fair and I applied for different places. So then I had a mini interview at first, and I got called back for a second interview with the store manager. And then, they would ask questions about where have I previously worked or have experience of food, and the hours I want to work, and the availability and all that stuff.
Interviewer:
What set you apart from other candidates?
Pizza Hut Cook:
I guess my passion for cooking and being willing to try new things and being energetic on the job, and being a team player and working with the other people to work at a faster pace so customers can get their orders faster. So, I guess showing that I’d be willing to do the hard work and prove that I’m not just talking and I’m actually willing to do the work.

Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Pizza Hut Crew Member:
Pretty much I worked at Pizza Hut, so there wasn’t actually a title. What I did is I worked in back kitchen. So I did everything from dish washing to making the pizzas, to making the chicken wings, to toppings, preparations, everything I pretty much did.
Interviewer:
What was the work environment like?
Pizza Hut Crew Member:
Actually the working environment was pretty clean. When we went to bathroom, they told us exactly how to wash your hands, this and that. And they made sure we were all clean before we actually got our hands into the food and stuff like that. So I was pretty impressed at how they were.
Interviewer:
What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Pizza Hut Crew Member:
He just asked background and where you work, this and that, but it wasn’t in detail.
Interviewer:
What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Pizza Hut Crew Member:
One thing they do look for, I know for a fact, is hard workers, because as I said, I don’t have one specific job. I have a lot of stuff to do. So that’s what they look for. So if they know you’re capable of doing a lot of stuff, then they’re definitely look into hiring you.
Merlyn says:
I am currently working at Pizza Hut as a team member, it is a great place to work.
Mark Anthony Sindol says:
I worked at pizza hut before and it is great to be a part of a team.
