Interviewer:
Please describe your job title and primary duties.

Boston Pizza Hostess:
So I started off as a hostess when I first started working there and then I worked my way up to server. Pretty self explanatory. When I was a hostess it was really important you greet your customers. When they come to the store, make them feel welcome into the environment that they’re coming into. I preferred working as a server though, just because you get to spend a bit more time with the customer that’s in the store and I’m being able to ensure that all their needs are being met. So it essentially, you know, taking orders, getting their food, making sure that they’re happy, stuff like that.

Interviewer:
How would you describe the application and interview process?

Boston Pizza Hostess:
Their hiring process, it wasn’t bad. It was a bit easier than some other places that I’ve worked. Essentially, just drop off a resume and they were pretty much instant. I gave it to a manager and whatnot, kind of figured out my availability and stuff like that, what experience I had. Prior to working at Boston Pizza, I didn’t have any server experience or anything like that, which is probably why they started me off as a hostess and then I kind of moved my way up to server. But yeah, the hiring process was pretty easy. Found out my availability, came in for an interview, and then they got right back to me.

Interviewer:
What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?

Boston Pizza Hostess:
One really big question is what experience do you have? That was really important. One thing I also found with Boston Pizza is they want to know what you know about the company or what you know about their chain of restaurants in order to work there, which I thought was a real kind of [released] it out. Some employers I think will ask you that, some don’t. So I’d say it’s really important to maybe do a bit of research on anywhere that you’re going to apply to before kind of going to the interview. So that was really important.
